A Charmed Life
Recently we visited Edmonton, Alberta. Before we got there, they had been having highs around -22 and had received a couple of feet of snow. But while we were there, it was sunny and the temperatures reached +3 or +4 everyday.

On our way to the London, Ontario, airport to begin the trip, we had to drive through a bit of snow, and while we were in Edmonton, London and area were socked in with about three feet of snow; the university closed for the first time in nearly 30 years. We were quite apprehensive about what we would find when we returned, especially about having to clean off our car and shovel it out at the airport.

Fortunately, for the 24 hours or so before we arrived back home, the temperatures in London were up near +6 and it rained, so by the time we landed, there was only about 6" of snow on the ground, and our car was almost completely clean (and a big thanks to Walter for shoveling out the end of our driveway for us).

Fortunately, too, we got out of Edmonton just in time. The temperatures there were dropping as we left, and fog was delaying later flights:
