Pretty cruel, those Japanese hiring departments, making job applicants take IQ tests with the instructions written in Chinese instead of Japanese... :P
This is nothing more than a minor variation on the missionaries and cannibals logic puzzle which is covered by many computer science departments in an intro level algorithmic methods class.
