Actually, Passover is not until April 20th. Easter is early because there is a full moon right after (a day after) the spring equinox this year.

What?? You mean Jesus went to Jerusalem for Passover nearly a month early??

Well, Jesus was on a donkey, and probably couldn't predict how long it would take him to get there. So he likely gave himself a lot of lead time...
Cba -- sorry!

Rondi, np!

Eclect... according to Hyam Maccobi (Revolution in Judea), it's far more likely that Jesus arrived in Jerusalem on Sukkot, about 6 months before Passover. Each year in synagogue as we wave the lulav (palm branch) and etrog while we sing the Hoshanot, I think of Maccobi.

Passover is later this year because it is a Jewish leap year, in which there are two Adar's. Adar is the month before Nisan and Nisan is the month Passover is in. So Passover comes out later this year.
