Two Questions about US Politics
  1. Why on earth is Hillary Clinton waiting until Friday to drop out of the race for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination? (ancillary questions: Does she have a chance, even remotely? Is she so hung up on power that she cannot bear to concede defeat?)

  2. Has Barack Obama hired a food taster?

Mark Shields had a good line last night on the PBS News Hour. It's like the joke about Pinochet who lingered on the edge of death. There's good news and bad news. The good news is he's dead. The bad news is someone has to tell him.

David Brooks said Obama cannot pick Hillary now that she's put the signal/pressure she's interested in being VP. His weakness is he's perceived to be weak. Picking Hillary now that the Clinton's are turning on the heat for the VP slot would confirm that perception.
